“I really enjoyed my learning experience at the college. At first I was apprehensive about going back to formalised learning, but the lecturers and support staff were professional and approachable. A great experience.”

Higher Education Programmes available at SACAP

Counselling:

More and more, counselling plays an important role in the delivery of health, community or corporate services to a diverse population with complex needs and issues. Both individuals and Corporations recognise this and need to be able to adapt to this in order to achieve personal and professional success. SACAP offers programmes that will lead to a career as a Counsellor, and training opportunities to skill those that need to incorporate counselling into their personal and professional lives.

Coaching:

Coaching is becoming one of the most popular and fastest growing professions in the world today. You will find trained professional Coaches in an array of fields, because people who are seeking any form of help want it now, available to them, privately and efficiently. They want the focus to be on their personal growth and development. We at SACAP offer you those skills to help your future client gain those initiatives. We train and prepare you for the life you will lead as a professional coach. Coaching is an emerging profession, whose time has now come and whose value is clearly recognised by individuals and organisations alive.

Facilitation:

Facilitation as an activity ensures that human relationships enhance, rather than detract from group and team effectiveness. Facilitation is increasingly recognised in organisations as one of the essential functions in ensuring that poor people dynamics do not hamper organisational success. Our principal method of training is experiential learning, hands on learning, coupled with personal reflection and exploration. We focus on developing your self awareness, to help gain a comprehensive understanding of individual and group psychology in group situations and the ability to work well in groups and teams.

College Support Services:

We understand that to achieve a successful education, students need real support. Our Student Services provides support with study skills and assessment writing strategies, personal and professional development, referral information and career counselling.

ACADEMIC

We provide academic services which are geared to provide students with the information and support they need to complete the academic requirements of our qualifications.

ACADEMIC SKILLING

Many students enrol to study at SACAP who have not studied for a long time, or who are unsure of the academic level required to satisfy tertiary standards. Our academic staff, trainers and tutors will provide personal support to assist individual students to understand what is required, and prepare for assessments. Academic skill workshops are held regularly, and cover a wide range of topics such as essay writing, acknowledging sources and preparing bibliographies.

RESOURCE FACILITY

SACAP has an excellent resource facility, which contains a comprehensive range of printed reading material.

FIELDWORK

Students undertaking a Diploma qualification can expect the programmes to include at least 200 hours of work place-based fieldwork, which is undertaken after you have completed the first six modules of your programme. You may choose to complete more than one fieldwork placement, which enables you to explore different types of workplaces and practices. Our fieldwork co-ordinator will provide support to assist students to choose an organisation that will provide maximum learning opportunities in their area of interest.

STUDENT SUPPORT

No matter what course you undertake, life and study commitments can often place you in situations where you need extra support. SACAP endeavours to work with students to provide the assistance they need, when they need it.
