This is where your training really comes to life. The Work Integrated Learning offering is a key feature of many of our qualifications and includes supervised practical placements within an organisational setting. WIL is rewarding and is the perfect opportunity to apply the knowledge you have learned in class within a “real world” placement site.
Overview
ACAP’s vision is to continue to grow and develop as a centre of excellence for education, research, and personal and professional development in the field of Applied Psychology, Management & Leadership and Social Work and Community development.
An integral component of this vision is to form links with various psychosocial organisations in the counselling, community, health and welfare services. The intention is that this collaborative work will promote excellence in the education and training of students within these industries.

The Work Integrated Learning module is a feature of the following qualifications
Undergraduate programmes
These programmes are aimed at developing skilled, knowledgeable, ethical, and confident students who engage with organisations by providing a wide range of psychosocial services such as presenting workshops, providing short-term emotional support for staff members or clients, and implementing community projects. Placement occurs in the final year of study and each student must complete 200 hours over a period of six months, under the supervision of our WIL coordinators and fellow SACAP educators who are registered professionals with the HPCSA.
Postgraduate programmes
The Bachelor of Psychology degree and the Bachelor of Social Science Honours (Psychology) [BPsych Equivalent Programme] are aimed at producing competent, ethical and professional practitioners who can apply for registration with the HPCSA as Student Registered Counsellors.
While engaged in their practical work. these students are involved in making psychological services accessible to diverse South African populations and to provide psychological and preventative interventions that focus on supporting and promoting the enhancement of wellbeing in various community contexts.
The postgraduate students’ practical placement takes place in their final year of study and each student is required to complete 720 hours over a period of twelve months, under supervision.
