Why study coaching at SACAP?

SACAP is an accredited private higher educational provider and is also acknowledged as South Africa’s leading provider of higher education and training in the field of applied psychology.

SACAP has been training students in coaching, as an applied psychology, since 1997 and are renowned for our unique blend of rigorous theory, applied skills and experiential workplace internships. Our range of coaching qualifications are both nationally (COMENSA) and internationally (ICF) accredited and are recognised as meeting best practice standards of quality and excellence.

What’s more, our learner-centred educational philosophy places an emphasis on an intimate and interactive learning environment facilitated by leading coaching practitioners and expert educators.

SACAP students therefore undergo their own empowering process which gives them greater control of their lives, increasing their ability to to effect change and positively impact society.

All our coaching courses are designed to accommodate those who are working professionals through a combination of evening and intensive block sessions. We teach coaching competencies embedded in solid ethical, theoretical and practical foundations.

Our coaching philosophy at SACAP is rooted in the disciplines of Applied Psychology and Adult Learning. From various schools of psychological thought, we draw on the wisdom of pertinent frameworks and tools that are applicable within the scope of practice of a coach. This is combined with theories and models that describe the nature of adult learning and change, and their application within the context of coaching.

We view a professional coach as a thinking partner who accelerates learning and development within both personal and professional spheres. The Coach provides a space for reflection, asks questions to catalyse insight, collaborates with the coachee to design actions to achieve their goals and holds them accountable for the changes they want to create. We train coaches to have a high level of self- awareness and a deep understanding of their own signature presence, which enables them to develop an effective coaching model based on their own strengths.

We align our coaching competency training with the competencies of The International Coach Federation (ICF) and Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (COMENSA).
