About
Lance Katz is the group CEO of SACAP (The South African College of Applied Psychology) where he has played a leadership role for the last 14 years.
Lance is an actuary by profession, having completed his undergraduate studies at Wits University, and his postgraduate studies at UCT. He also holds an Executive MBA qualification from INSEAD in France where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
His early career was in financial services before joining SACAP in 2010 where he discovered his true passion, blending his business acumen with his keen interest in mental health and mission for social impact.

Dr Lauren Martin is the Dean at SACAP as well as a registered Counselling Psychologist.

Dr Marcel Londt is the Deputy Head of the Department of Social Work at the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, South Africa. She is currently working on publishing her work with sex offenders and men who use violence in an intimate relationship. She is also a Senior Lecturer with responsibilities for both undergraduate and post graduate students in social work and supervises students in the NOHA programme which is an EU-funded programme on Humanitarian Studies.
Dr Londt’s community-based interventions include a private practice, named Catts, that specialises in the assessment and treatment of sex offenders and batterers.

Dr Jaclyn Lotter is an experienced educator with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education space. Skilled in psychotherapy, qualitative research, lecturing, curriculum development and psychological assessment, Dr Lotter holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (Psychology) focused in Community Psychology from Rhodes University.

Dr Boitumelo Diale is a highly experienced Educational Psychologist and scholar in the field of career development with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. She is a Professor of Psychology of Education at the College of Education, UNISA. and is a registered Educational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. She also holds a private practice in Soweto. Dr Diale research interests centres on inclusion and career development across the lifespan with the focus on community-based empowerment and social change. She is also interested in therapeutic interventions from an African Psychology, Indigenous knowledge system and more specifically, African indigenous knowledge systems.

Prof Vivienne Bozalek is an Emerita Professor in Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of the Western Cape, and Honorary Professor in the Centre for Higher Education Research, Teaching and Learning (CHERTL) at Rhodes University.

Over the past 11 years, Zerina Royeppen has held various top-level positions at SACAP (the South African College of Applied Psychology), and has made her mark as a thought-leader for women in education. With a mantra, derived from a Ghanaian Fanti proverb, Zerina Royeppen believes that when you ‘teach a woman, you teach a nation’. She advocates that entrepreneurship and leadership skills should be part of every woman’s education, and should be easily accessible for all.

Dr Cornel Hart is the Programme Coordinator for the Community Development (CD) Professional Degree and the Evaluator for the Scholarship of Engagement at the UWC. She has a Masters in Research Methodology – specialising in Programme Evaluation. Cornel has been part of National Task Teams for developing new qualifications frameworks since 2009 and a member of the CD Professionalization Steering Committee. She has been the head of research for drafting the policy framework for Community Development Practice in South Africa. Her research foci are micro-macro level community well-being assessment, community development practice and scholarship of engagement.
Since 1999 she provided extensive training in CD, Logical Frameworks and Research Methodology; from community-based organizations to public sector departments of several African countries. Cornel is a member of: the International Association for Community Development (IACD) the Community Development Society (CDS) and was Vice-Chair: Operations. She received the CDS International Community Development Best Practice Award in 2017.
She is part of the Community Engagement Unit (CEU) ORIC Team for BIs (UWC is the first and only non-USA HEI ORIC beneficiary) and a Board Member of: the South African Higher Education Community Engagement Forum (SAHCEF) and SACAP (The South African College of Applied Psychology).

Megan Campbell is a Counselling Psychologist and Associate Professor at the Rhodes University Psychology Department where she co-ordinates the Counselling Psychology Professional Masters Programme. She has a particular interest in couple therapy and clinical training in Imago and Emotionally-Focused Therapy. In 2021 she secured an NIHSS Grant to develop a partnership with the Counselling Psychology programme at Hawassa University, Ethiopia and to explore predictors of intimate partner violence in couples living in South Africa and Ethiopia.
She also have a keen interest in the translation and adaptation of psychometric measures for use in local contexts. Having started her career as a Psychometrist and Lay Counsellor, she completed her professional training as a Counselling Psychologist in 2009 and graduated with her PhD in 2013. She then joined the UCT Psychiatry Department as a research fellow where she published in the fields of sexuality-related conditions, ethics of psychiatric genomics, mental health stigma and culturally specific explanatory illness models pertaining to schizophrenia.

Prof Shadrick Mazaza is a physician and business school academic at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is honorary professor, department of Family Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine, University of Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa, honorary Professor, division of Family Medicine, School of Public Health and Family Medicine, University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Building on his professional background as a physician, Prof Mazaza has devoted the last two decades of his life focusing on Personal Transformation as it applies to leadership development, health, and wellbeing.
He is founder and executive director of The Mazaza Academy of Transformation for the life of Business and the business of Life; Founder and executive director of the African Consciousness Institute, a non-profit organization devoted to advanced human transformation for Africa’s development and integration.

Walter Matina is a social and cultural anthropologist, academic, and educational practitioner with extensive experience in higher education teaching, curriculum design, and academic development. He holds qualifications in Anthropology and Rural Development Studies, with postgraduate training in Social and Cultural Anthropology, and is currently pursuing further interdisciplinary studies.
Walter has worked across universities, private higher education institutions, and development contexts, where he has been involved in lecturing, academic mentoring, staff development, and curriculum support. His work is particularly concerned with student epistemic development, critical thinking, and the transition into independent academic work. He has designed and facilitated academic mentorship programmes, teaching toolkits, and staff workshops focused on assessment literacy, student engagement, and effective learning design.
His primary current preoccupations centre on strengthening teaching and learning quality, supporting lecturers in pedagogically sound practice, improving student preparedness and academic success, and ensuring that curricula are coherent, developmentally appropriate, and responsive to diverse student contexts.

Dr Gordon Isaacs is an experienced lecturer and former associate professor in clinical social work and development at the University of Cape Town and Psycho-social consultant with 50 years of a demonstrated history of working in the professional training, community development, community mental health and psycho-social counselling: BA (SW), M.Soc.Sc (Distinction) PhD (UCT) (former member of SA institute for psychotherapy. focused in clinical social work, social development, sex worker rights Teach at SACAP. Dr Morena Makhoana is a medical graduate from the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa and has participated in numerous executive and business courses at both Harvard and Stanford Universities. Prior to his CEO role at Biovac, he held the position of Deputy CEO and prior to that of Medical Affairs Director for Biovac. Dr Makhoana serves on numerous committees within the vaccine industry and serves as a board member of other healthcare and non-healthcare companies. He also serves as the Chairman of the Business Board for SACAP.

Prof Brian Kantor is an economist and the former Chief Investment Strategist of Investec Wealth & Investment SA. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Cape Town, where he was the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Head of the School of Economics. Prof Kantor is also the previous non-executive chairman of Acucap Properties and the founding chairman of the V&A Waterfront. Prof Kantor holds a B.Com and a B.A. (Hons) from University of Cape Town.

After an early career in the advertising industry, William Stephens joined VW of SA in Sales and Marketing. In 2013 he was appointed to the Board of Management of VW of SA responsible for Corporate and Internal Communication including the reputational management of the South African operation. Bill retired from VW of SA in 2011 and then joined fledgling Communications Agency M&C Saatchi Abel as an Executive Consultant. In 2014 Bill was introduced to Lance Katz and became a Consultant to SACAP primarily in the Marketing and PR space. In 2017 he joined the Board of SACAP as a Non–Executive Director and continues to mentor members of the SACAP leadership team.

Amrish Narrandes is a qualified Chartered Accountant with more than nine years of private equity experience. He is head of Private Equity & Venture Capital at Futuregrowth Asset Management, overseeing the origination and exiting of investments across a wide range of industries. In his current position as a member of the Private Equity and Venture Capital Investment team, Fareez is involved across the investment process in terms of both new deals and existing deals within the portfolio. This includes initial deal screening, due diligence across commercial, financial, tax and legal aspects when assessing an investment opportunity, drafting term sheets for negotiation with counterparties, and engaging with investee companies on operational and strategic issues that may impact on the investment outlook and valuation.
Fareez has more than four years’ experience in financial services. He is a Chartered Accountant and completed his articles at Deloitte Cape Town. In addition, he has completed is Masters Degree in Applied Finance at UCT. With his diverse background and experience, he brings a unique combination of attributes at a strategic and process level to the organisation and within his role.

Gary Palmer is a successful business entrepreneur with over 20 years’ experience, extensively in deal making. Gary has advised and facilitated several corporate finance deals exceeding R3,5 billion in value. Gary is the founder and CEO of Paragon Lending Solutions, which he established in 2009. He has grown the business into a successful provider of finance to South Africa’s entrepreneurial business market.
As a Chartered Accountant, Gary has a comprehensive understanding of the financial levers for property and business deals. During tenures at Ernst Young UK and Investec, he specialised in corporate finance, focusing on financial structuring for high-net-worth individuals.
Gary served as an advisory committee member to the Gesher Fund, which was established to provide financial relief and support for distressed companies during COVID-19. He is also a member of the Priorities Board and Allocations Committee, which allocates funding to charitable organisations.
Gary also serves as a non-executive director of SACAP (The South African College of Applied Psychology).
