SACAP has a wide range of psychology degrees to choose from including undergraduate degrees, honours and programmes that enable graduates to register with the Health Professional Council (HPCSA) of South African as a Registered Counsellor,
Founded in 1997, SACAP has earned a reputation as the specialists in providing training in applied psychology and accredited psychology degrees in South Africa. While the college was founded in Cape Town, it has since expanded throughout the country, offering more students the opportunity to study a psychology degree course and open up many career opportunities that can lead into areas such as social work and human resources, or even continue their academic studies in med school, among many others.
With campuses in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria, students can choose to study these accredited qualifications part-time or full-time or even complete their psychology degree via distance learning. SACAP has a well-established Online campus that is a lot like our physical campuses, only you get to manage your workload while still meeting the entry requirements of your psychology degree modules. Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Majoring in Psychology and Counselling).
This is considered our gold standard of social science qualifications. It provides an excellent foundation providing graduates with useful skills for their career development and also and enables articulation in further study within the social sciences.

- Duration: 3 year full-time, 5 years part-time
- Accreditation: NQF 7, CHE accredited
- Practicum: 200 hours including supervision
Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Majoring in Psychology and Human Resource Management).
An undergraduate degree that gives you the option to specialise in human resource management within an applied social science framework.
- Intake: Term 1 and 2
- Duration: 3 year full-time, 5 years part-time (online)
- Accreditation: NQF 7, CHE accredited
- Work Integrated Learning: 3 months, full-time including mentoring
Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Majoring in Psychology and Business Management).
This is a comprehensive undergraduate degree that gives you the option to specialise in modern business skills in an applied social science framework.

- Duration: 18 months, full-time only
- Accreditation: NQF 8, CHE accredited and HPCSA approved
- Practicum: 720 hours over 12 months, including supervision

SACAP also offers a 4-year full-time professional Bachelor of Psychology degree that leads to registration as a Registered Counsellor with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA), as well as a professional 18-month Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Psychology [BPsych Equivalent Programme], which is a postgraduate degree qualification that also meets the requirements for registration as a Registered Counsellor with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA). SACAP’s 1-year full-time Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Psychology also provides eligibility for graduates to study either a professional or non-professional Master’s degree in a cognate field both locally or internationally.
Do you need mathematics to study psychology?
Mathematics is advantageous, yes.
