Meet Katlego Mlambo, Head of Campus at SACAP Pretoria. She’s a registered counselling psychologist and passionate about helping students succeed by building supportive, people-first teams that genuinely care.

Shiny new space

Under Katlego’s leadership, SACAP’s Pretoria campus has relocated to a brand-new, standalone site, designed with students at the heart of every detail.

The new space offers top-notch security, ample parking, an on-site canteen and an outdoor hangout area. It’s also just minutes from Menlyn Mall – making student life safe, easy and convenient.

Curious about SACAP’s exciting campus move and how it aligns with Katlego’s vision for her future, we sat down with her to get the inside scoop. Here’s what she has to say…

Quiet strength

“I’ve always been a shy introvert who enjoys quietly observing people and their behaviour,” Katlego shares. “Psychology felt like a natural fit for me.”

Her path proved to be the right one. Katlego completed her Master’s in Counselling Psychology with distinction, a clear reflection of her passion, dedication and natural ability in the field.

Leading with purpose

With more than a decade of experience in higher education, Katlego brings both expertise and insight to her role. She combines her background in psychology with practical leadership skills to make a meaningful impact. When asked which role has been her favourite so far, she doesn’t hesitate.

“Each role has taught me valuable lessons, but being the Head of Campus feels particularly meaningful now that I am a psychologist,” she says. “It allows me to integrate my passions for leadership, psychological understanding, team development and student assistance.”

Why SACAP?

“SACAP’s values just clicked with me from the start,” says Katlego. “I’m someone who always aims to do my best and get real results, but I also think being a good leader means staying true to your word and doing what’s right.”

“What really stood out to me is how SACAP is dedicated to making a difference in South Africa through education. It matches my own passion for helping people grow and positively impacting society.”

In her element

We asked Katlego to describe her role as Head of Campus. “My responsibilities span strategic leadership, operational oversight and people management,” she says. “I’m in charge of making sure the Pretoria campus runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.”

“But beyond the operations, my focus is on building a vibrant, values-driven campus culture. That means supporting staff development, engaging students in meaningful ways, and ensuring our systems respond to both academic goals and human needs.”

Mission with vision

We asked Katlego what prompted SACAP’s decision to relocate and whether any unexpected benefits have resulted from the move.

“We had simply outgrown our previous space, both in terms of size and what we aspire to offer our students and staff,” she says. “The relocation was about creating a purpose-built environment that aligns with our vision for growth, connection and a more engaging student experience.”

“We’re already seeing the potential,” she adds. “The increased space opens up opportunities for spontaneous collaboration, student gatherings and a more energised sense of community across campus.”

Good to grow

“The new campus is a tangible reflection of SACAP’s commitment to development, accessibility and innovation. It supports our vision of shaping a new generation of change-makers by providing them with the space and support to do meaningful work,” Katlego continues.

How does the move affect her personal goals? “My focus is on building a workplace where people feel psychologically safe, heard and inspired,” she explains. “I intend to keep promoting values-based leadership, foster honest conversations and commit to ongoing professional development that respects the whole person.”

Future focused

We like to end these conversations with the same question: What’s next? So, we asked Katlego about her career aspirations for the next five years.

“I hope to continue in leadership roles where I can shape strategy across multiple campuses,” she says. “I want to stay people-focused, but expand my impact by influencing systems and culture on a broader scale.”

The sparkly new Pretoria Campus is now located at 34 Ingersol Road, Lynnwood Ridge (directly opposite Podium at Menlyn). Drop in for a visit and be impressed.
